Subject Specific: Study of Business Studies at Key Stage 4 is preferred but not required


Three 2 hour examinations at the end of Year 13 Paper 1 (35%)

Paper 2 Themes 2 and 3 (35%)

A Level Business Studies is a well-established and high achieving course.

You will develop the knowledge and skills needed to analyse data, think critically about issues and make informed decisions – all skills that are needed for further study and employment.

What will you study?

In Year 12 you will study two themes:

  • Marketing and People
  • Managing Business Activities

Year 13 builds on your solid knowledge-base with two further themes:

  • Business Decisions and Strategy
  • Global Business


How will you study?

An A Level Business Studies class will typically have 10-15 pupils. The structure of lessons will be very similar to GCSE Business Studies. Lessons will begin with retrieval questions, consolidating key concepts and knowledge required for the lesson. This is then followed by teacher led introduction of new concepts, consolidation activities and reflective independent work.

Where will it take me?

A Level Business Studies provides an excellent foundation from which to pursue future study or a wide range of careers. It is widely regarded by employers and universities, opening doors to a wide range of exciting careers.

Potential careers include: Business and Finance, Marketing/Sales, PR Advertising, Management, IT, Public Services, Industrial Public Sector, Retail, Creative/Design/Media, Teaching, Accountancy or Human Resources.
