Why choose BTEC Business Studies?

Have you ever thought about running your own business? Have you got some great ideas for launching a new product or service?

Interested in marketing or management? Whatever your vision, a BTEC Business course is a great start to either a successful business career or to higher education courses.

What will you study?

The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels.

You will cover thirteen units over the two years. You will study seven core units and six specialist units selected from the key areas of business for the 21st century.

The compulsory units are: Exploring Business, Developing a Marketing Campaign, Personal and Business Finance, Managing an Event, International Business, Principles of Management and Business Decision Making.

The remaining units are optional and include a range of areas such as: Recruitment and Selection Process, Management Accounting, Digital

Marketing, Market Research, The English Legal System, Employment Law and Work Experience in Business.

How will you study?

You will be taught in a wide variety of ways including – group work, independent learning, online learning, teacher led work, researching and presentation.

Over half the course, 58% of your overall grade, is coursework and 42% will be externally assessed.

This is a practical, work related course and you will learn by completing tasks and assignments that are based on realistic situations.

Where will it take me?

This qualification, is designed to support your progression to further study at university, when applying for higher or degree level apprenticeships or directly into employment. It will give you the transferable knowledge, understanding and skills that a university admissions tutor or potential employer will be looking for when considering your application.

There are many different career paths for those who wish to work within the business sector. These include: Management, HR, Finance,

Marketing and Business Information Management to name but a few, with the opportunity to work both in the UK and internationally.
