Headteacher Message

Mr. McConaghie

This weekend is Remembrance Sunday. This is our annual opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life through the years.

Ashton on Mersey held a period of silence today as a mark of respect. Pupils have been raising money throughout the week via our Poppy Appeal and have been delivered assemblies and teaching sessions on the impact of war and the bravery of so many. It remains as important as ever to consider the devastating effect that war can have on people globally.

We will remember them, as Laurence Binyon eloquently writes in his poem The Fallen:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
