BTEC Sport gives you the opportunity to enter employment in the sport and active leisure sector or to progress to higher education in sport or related areas.
It also gives you the opportunity to develop a range of techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.
What will you study?
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels.
In this Sport and Physical Activity Development course you will cover fourteen units over the two year course, including Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Training, Skill Acquisition in Sport, Business in Sport, Sports Leadership and Practical Sports Performance.
How will you study?
A variety of teaching and learning styles are utilised in BTEC Sport. Wherever possible theoretical concepts are taught through practical application.
Over half the course, 70% of your overall grade, is coursework and 30% will be externally assessed.
This is a practical, work related course and you will learn by completing tasks and assignments that are based on realistic situations.
Where will it take me?
This qualification, is designed to support your progression to further study at university, when applying for higher or degree level apprenticeships or directly into employment. It will give you the transferable knowledge, understanding and skills that a university admissions tutor or potential employer will be looking for when considering your application.
This course will give you the skills to progress towards a career in sports Therapy, Sport and Exercise Science, Sport Rehabilitation, Teaching or Sports Coaching.
